We all love our annual vacation but there are those that never go too far from home and then you find the adventurous types that will travel the world. Whatever your travel interest is you will find a wealth of information online at numerous travel sites. Travel has become so easy that many people no longer even bother going to the travel agent and use websites exclusively to book their vacation. The main problem is the convenience of it all and the huge savings that can be found using the internet.

There is obviously a great deal of trust required to use the internet this way as often the companies you deal with have never been anything else but an internet based business. I’m old-fashioned and still want to sit down with a travel agent, letting them make my plans for me and I always feel like I will get better results than on a website. A travel agent will also fully expect changes to be made during the booking process and can be more flexible in their approach including when there are problems. It is difficult complaining to a travel site and almost impossible to actually speak to a real person, plus with today’s technology it is almost impossible to say where they are in the world.

The difficulty comes with the aspect of trust and speaking to someone on a phone, who knows where, does not instill confidence. For peace of mind I like to use my travel agent and I don’t mind if it takes much longer to book the vacation or if the cost is higher because I know I can always speak to them about anything that isn’t right. I have a good friend who would never use a travel agent as she books all her last minute vacations using travel sites because she can save a packet of money. By browsing online she has made some amazing savings by just waiting until the last possible minute to book the vacation.

It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. I don’t doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. This way, if I book my vacation through my travel agent, should anything go wrong, I know I can go and complain in person.

It seems that airfare deals, the best price and the best time to travel are talked about more often by folks who travel more frequently. Ticket prices fluctuate a lot around the World although it’s possible to fly to most destinations for markedly less than the full standard fare;armed with some research and the aid of a travel agent.

Passengers collect points or benefits each time they fly with a particular carrier and they redeem them for a free ticket for a partner of for some other benefit. Competition within the airlines has made them adopt this design or join forces with other airlines; many hotels are now doing the same.

Travelers should beware of online sites that specialize in selling discounted airline tickets, they may be legitimate business ventures, but it is safer to book your flight with mainstream discount agents. Oftentimes, the problem lies with not being able to authenticate these sites as legitimate businesses before they make a transaction. If you cannot visit the office, you should telephone to assess the knowledge of that staff rather than just using e-mail contact. Query with as many questions as you can, to learn of any likely snags related to their ticket deals, such as stopovers in unattractive parts of the world. Make sure that you know exactly which airline you are flying on, that’s very important information.

Airfare deals are on the increase, and options are opening up daily for new destinations and more flexible routes. With careful research of the airlines’ options and a flexible attitude you will eventually arrive at your destination with little hindrance.
